PAWS conducts humane education seminars in your barangay for FREE

Posted on July 24, 2009 by admin

I just read in the animal advocates multiply account that they are conducting a free humane education seminar at any barangay for free. This is something to grab about because through this we can educate the community on how to treat the animals and I quote;

Conduct humane education seminars in your barangay

For PAWS’ free seminar to barangays, PAWS usually cover the following topics:

1. Animal Welfare Laws and ordinances on Animal Control
- RA 8495 Animal Welfare Act
- RA 9482 Anti-Rabies Act
2. Humane Animal Capture and Humane City Pounds or Animal Control Facility (Management)
3. Responsible Pet Ownership and Rabies Prevention
4. For Kids and Parents: How to Avoid Dog Bites (Basic Dog Behavior, How to “Meet A Dog”)

As mentioned, this seminar is free and we only need transportation to and from the venue, at least one week’s notice and a donation of cat food to our animal shelter. (Preference: 1 30-kg sack of Cat Food. However the amount of cat food - whether 1 small bag or 1 sack depends on the barangay’s generosity/financial capability.)

For the venue, there should be a sound system,projector, DVD player, a comfortable place to sit for all participants and perhaps some merienda for participants to keep them alert in between breaks (optional).

Session is good for half day. We can give certificates to participants if their names are given ahead of time. Logo of the bgy or the city government or whoever is sponsoring should also be sent to this email.

Please contact PAWS at philpaws@yahoo.com or 475-1688 for further inquiries or clarifications. Please help in the awareness of animal welfare in your own barangay. Thank you!

I hope the barangay captains and local officials will use this free seminar and help PAWS through sale of any items like auctioning some stuff, donating a sum or just by being a volunteer to help them feed the homeless dogs.
