Keeping Your Dog’s Coat Healthy

Having a healthy coat means having a healthy skin right? We really love looking at our dogs in full bloom but sometimes let us admit that they are also feeling itchy and flaky and that is the indication that maybe it is just a skin or hair problem that lacks proper caring or there might be an underlying sickness by having an unbalance diet.
Here are the things we should consider on having a healthy skin and coat for dogs:
1. Be sure that your dog is getting a balance diet. Get a brand of dog food that is trusted and known for having carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, and essential vitamins and minerals on their ingredients. Home made foods are also recommended but see vets consultation for the do’s and don’ts.
2. Grooming and bathing your dog regularly. Grooming does not mean only that you will go to a groomer and pay 550 and it depends if its long hair, thick hair etc. But grooming them regularly at home like brushing combing them will make them moisturize more because there natural oil is being distributed plus brushing them can eliminate dead skin cells and dander. On bathing your dog, do not use human shampoo because it can irritate your dog’s skin, used a dog shampoo and conditioner that is available on pet shops.
3. Avoid parasites, ticks and fleas. You can avoid parasites by regularly deworming your dog, internal parasites deprives your dog on getting the nutrients from the food that they are eating. Ticks and fleas can caused your dogs on too much scratching because this pests bites your dog skin and this makes them feel itchy.
4. Supplements. Give your dogs some dog supplements with omega 3, fatty acids, fish oil to replace the lost oil and still will have a good shiny coat. Also you can apply vegetable oil, tea tree oil or virgin coconut oil on their coat and it will help their skin and coat on being a healthy an shiny.
