Many institutions has been requesting dogs to visit their patients or to be in the home for the aged and kids house. This is one proof that a dog really cures people that is why they were tagged as doctor dogs. PAWS had this program Dr. Dog since 2007, I guess, it was introduced by Jill Robinson, the founder of Dr. Dog Program in Asia. Dogs visiting a hospital can lessen their burden more because as the Dr Dogs founder said the “Love is their medicine”.

If you are a dog lover in the living in the Philippines, you must know RA 8485. This is a law for our dear dogs and for animals in general. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8485: AN ACT TO PROMOTE ANIMAL WELFARE IN THE PHILIPPINES, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS “THE ANIMAL WELFARE ACT OF 1998. We all know that Oprah Winfrey has a lot of dogs and her American Cocker dog named Sophie passed away last March for having a kidney problem and she was 13 and her Golden Retriever dog died a couple of years ago from choking. But still Oprah has Solomon and her three labradors Luke, Layla and Gracie.

PETA is currently doing a campaign for the month of January called Unchain a Dog. Help a dog in your community to be released in a solitary confinement situation. Dogs should be free and they should enjoy their dog life too like any other animals. Dogs are a man’s best friend and you do not want to see your best friend not enjoying their life and living their life freely.

Luckily I have read on mefindhome newsletter that they will be having a PAWS Volunteer Orientation on January 10, 2009, 10 AM.
